Unidentified Girl Drowns in River Jhelum Near Reservoir Baramulla

 

An unidentified girl drowned in the River Jhelum near the reservoir side of Baramulla on Tuesday. According to local sources, a boy was present with the girl at the time of the incident. Eyewitnesses report that the two were seen arguing before the girl suddenly jumped into the river. Immediately after the incident, the boy fled the scene.

A shepherd grazing his animals nearby witnessed the event and quickly alerted local residents. By the time the locals arrived, the girl had already been swept away by the current. Authorities from the Boniyar police station reached the site, but as of now, a rescue operation has not yet been launched.

The incident has raised concerns among residents, who are urging authorities to begin rescue efforts promptly and investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
