Negligence at GMC Baramulla: Child Referred, Left Waiting for 4 Hours Without Ambulance or Medical Help — Tension Escalates Between Attendants and Doctors
Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir In a shocking incident at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, a critically ill child was allegedly left unattended for over four hours after being referred for further treatment. Despite repeated pleas from the family, no ambulance was arranged, nor did any doctor attend to the child during this crucial window.
Eyewitnesses state that the attendants were forced to manage emergency care on their own, while the hospital administration remained unresponsive. The child’s condition reportedly worsened as the family waited helplessly for medical assistance that never came.
“We kept begging. There was no ambulance, no doctor for hours. We had to take matters into our own hands,” said one of the frustrated family members.
Adding to the gravity of the situation, tensions escalated when some attendants allegedly misbehaved with doctors, creating a scene that could have turned violent. There are claims of an attempt to assault hospital staff, and one individual is reported to have tried to attack a doctor, which could fall under the ambit of attempt to murder As emotions ran high, the situation turned tense. Authorities at GMC Baramulla have stated that the person responsible for this act will be identified using CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, and an FIR will be lodged under relevant sections of the law. This includes assaulting public servants on duty and obstruction of emergency medical service.
Authorities have confirmed that the individual involved will be identified and action will be taken strictly under the law. FIR is expected to be registered for obstructing public service and attempting violence against medical personnel.
