Tangmarg, Baramulla (J&K), July 5 2025
In a deeply disturbing incident, a private fish farm in Hariwatino, Tangmarg, suffered catastrophic damage after unknown miscreants deliberately cut off the water supply, resulting in the death of thousands of fish and a financial loss estimated at over ₹15 lakh.

The fish, which require a continuous flow of fresh oxygenated water to survive, were left stranded in shallow, stagnant water for hours. By the time the sabotage was discovered, almost all the fish were dead — their lifeless bodies seen floating in the muddy water, evoking shock and grief among locals and viewers online.

“This was not an accident it was a targeted act of cruelty. Someone intentionally cut the water supply pipe,” said Sabreena Mushtaq, the owner of the fish farm. “This was our only source of income. We are devastated.”
